My name is Chantelle Dur. As your elected Trustee, I am deeply invested in creating a school environment that serves our students, respects parental voices, and supports our dedicated teachers, and I am now seeking re-election.
As a mother of four children in our district’s Catholic schools, I understand firsthand the importance of strong, values-based education.
Over the years, I have been actively involved as a volunteer in our schools—on school councils and with Grateful Advocates for Catholic Education (GrACE)—working closely with other parents, teachers, and staff to enhance the educational experience for all.
I grew up in Calgary, attending Catholic schools from kindergarten through Grade 12. After completing my history degree, I worked in the admissions department at St. Mary’s University. These experiences have reinforced my commitment to supporting and strengthening our Catholic school community.
As your trustee, I work for you to ensure that our schools focus on strong academics, open communication with parents, and an environment that upholds the timeless values of our Faith.
These are not just my priorities; they are my promises—to you, to our schools, and to the future of our children.
We owe it to our children to get this right.

Student Success First
Our kids deserve a foundation built on the essentials. Every policy, every choice, every dollar spent should directly benefit the students in our classrooms. With four children in our district’s Catholic schools, I support a back-to-basics approach that prioritizes strong academics, discipline, and well-rounded education. Policies should support productive homework practices, meaningful assignments, and clear standards for behavior that contribute to a focused learning environment. Let’s ensure students have solid skills in reading, writing, and math, and let’s avoid chasing fads that don’t serve them.
Transparency
Parents: Our schools should be places where parents know exactly what their children are learning. Curriculum transparency is essential to building trust, ensuring parents have clear insight into classroom content, and confidence that educational priorities align with our community’s values. Classrooms should be places of knowledge and growth, not venues for the politics of the day.
Teachers: Our teachers are the backbone of this work. They should be free to do what they do best: teach. Let’s protect our classrooms from ideological pressure and give our teachers the support they need to teach our children in ways that cultivate knowledge, skills, and critical thought. Our classrooms should stay focused on true learning, free from agendas, and committed to what works.
Trustees: I am committed to creating a school environment that respects and amplifies parental input. This means regular communication, transparency in decision-making, and open forums for feedback. In-camera discussions should be rare, not routine. Together, we can create a school environment where parents feel they have a voice in their child’s future.
Catholic Identity in Education
There’s no need to chase after passing secular ideologies when we already stand on a foundation that has held firm for centuries: the teachings of our Faith. The Golden Rule, sacrifice, charity, and love for one another are at the heart of our Catholic values. These aren’t just principles; they’re practices that shape character and community. In our schools, let’s focus on this timeless wisdom, offering students the strength and clarity of values that don’t change with the winds of the day.
Publicly funded Catholic education is a treasure worth defending, but let’s be clear: if we lose the integrity of what we call Catholic education, then what exactly are we fighting for? It is the Faith that makes it Catholic, and it is the Faith that gives it meaning and purpose. Without it, we’re left with just a name.
Let’s hold fast to what matters, to what has always mattered, and ensure our schools remain true to the values and beliefs that make them worth protecting.
